Sand/Cement smooth finish
A sand/cement render is a mortar consisting basically of cement and fine aggregate, usually together with lime or a plasticiser, which is applied to a wall surface, generally in two or more coats. The hardened render provides a durable weather resistant finish that will enhance the surface of a building. This finish will be grey in colour, smooth and ready for painting.
Lime render is primarily used in the conservation of buildings originally built using lime mortar, but may be used as an alternative to ordinary portland cement. It is made principally of lime (hydraulic, or non hydraulic), water and an aggregate such as sand.
Pebble Dash is the application of two coats of sand/cement render with pebbles or decorative aggregate embedded in the top coat. Originally used to render large areas or multiple structures as it is quicker to apply therefor saving on labour costs.
